calloway-co-fedex

Calloway County, Ky.–A FedEx truck was demolished in a single vehicle accident in Calloway County today, but miraculously, the driver was not seriously injured.
Calloway County Fire & Rescue was dispatched out to the 1700 block of Glover Road for a single vehicle accident with injuries. While enroute, responding units were advised that the occupant of the vehicle was unable to get out of the vehicle & that the vehicle was possibly starting to smoke. Upon arrival of the first unit on scene, a FedEx box truck was found in a bean field with extensive front end damage with the driver sitting on the side step of the truck.
The driver was checked by CCFR personnel & claimed to be okay besides some lacerations to his face & arms.
The truck was found to not be smoking at the time CCFR arrived on scene. Murray-Calloway County EMS arrived on scene to provide additional medical attention to the driver before transporting him to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Upon further investigation of the accident, it seems the FedEx truck was traveling northbound on Glover Road when he came up on a dip in the road for a creek crossing; upon hitting the dip the vehicle lost control striking the tree line on drivers side of the vehicle before traveling off the right side of the road into a bean field & came to a rest facing south.
Thankfully the driver was wearing a seatbelt which possibly saved his life, or at least saved him from more serious injuries.
CCFR responded on scene with 2 pumpers & 1 support truck with 6 firefighters and was on scene for approximately one hour before returning to service. CCFR was assisted on scene by Calloway County Sheriff’s Office & Murray-Calloway County EMS.
