Paris, Tenn.–A year-long project has come closer to reality with Tuesday’s groundbreaking for the new Henry County Health Department in Paris. Former County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway said, “This is a great day for Paris and a great day for Henry County. This did not happen easily or happen fast”, recalling the announcement in May of 2023 that Henry County would be receiving a $2.25M award from the state to build a new health department. Speakers in addition to Ridgeway included State Health Commissioner Ralph Alvarado, current County Mayor Randy Geiger, County Health Department Director Tracy Byrd and Architect Jerry Hartsfield. Geiger noted, “A lot of hard work has gone into this and I know the employees will appreciate it.” A large crowd was on hand for the groundbreaking ceremonies.
