Buchanan, Tenn.–A Buchanan family is homeless after a fire destroyed their home early this morning. Thankfully, no one was injured in the blaze but their home is a total loss.

Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Chief Reggie Coles said the department and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 435 Point Plesant Road on a report of a structure fire.

Arriving units found a double wide mobile home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.  The occupants, Mrs. Ashley Cox and her two children were able to escape unharmed.  Her husband Robert Cox was at work at the time of the incident.   Mrs. Cox stated she woke up smelling smoke and discovered the living room on fire. Although the fire was quickly extinguished it was a total loss.   The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation but appears to be accidental.

Coles told WTPR, “It’s very lucky that she woke up and smelled the smoke.”

Damage is estimated at $65,000.00.  Four trucks and eight personnel were on the scene for three hours.  Paris Fire Department provided mutual aid with one truck and two personnel.

Mr and Mrs. Cox were renting the property and have no insurance.  The Red Cross,  Tomorrow’s Hope Center,  and Michell Brewer of the Henry County Sheriff’s office have all been notified to provide assistance.
