“Serving The Lord In Difficult Times” Theme Of Quinn AME Women’s Day

Paris, Tenn.–Quinn AME Church’s Annual Women’s Day will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday Sept 22 at the church on Church St. in Paris.
Theme:  Women: “Serving the Lord in Difficult Times”  Rev. Roxzedena McKee will be speaker.
 The  Woman of the Year will be crowned.

The Rev. Roxzedena (Roxie) S. McKee Bio:

Rev. Roxzedena (Roxie) S. McKee is the proud daughter of the late John Edward Story, Sr. and Elizabeth Mills Story. Ms. McKee’s parents were both killed in a fatal automobile accident when she was three years old.  She and her two brothers were raised in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, by her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth G. Scott who has also passed away.  She credits who she is as a woman today to her grandmother’s guidance and love. Rev. McKee is a graduate from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky in December 1981, where she received an Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. As a working adult, she returned to school to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in 2009 from Indiana Wesleyan University in Applied Management.  In April of 2012, she earned her MBA also in Applied Management. In 2018, she earned her Master of Divinity from Indiana Wesleyan University. Currently, she is enrolled at Union Institute and University, in Cincinnati, Ohio, as a Ph. D. candidate in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in Ethic Leadership and Creative Development, Cultural Studies and a Specialization in Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Studies. Rev. McKee is the proud mother of Dr. Toetta R. Taul, the proud principal of Iroquois High School for Jefferson County Public School System in Louisville, Kentucky, and Sergeant Daison C. McKee of the United States Army Reserve and Special Education Teacher for the Goodwill Excel Center in Indiana.   

Rev. McKee is very dedicated and committed to her spiritual journey. Rev. McKee has a profound love for her family and her faith, she truly believes and lives her life on God promises that “Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, neither entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that Love HIM.” Rev. McKee accepted Christ at the early age of twelve at High Street Christian Church in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.  There she held several positions as the president of the CYF (Christian Youth Fellowship), choir member, choir director and pianist. After graduation in 1981 from Eastern Kentucky University, Rev. McKee joined the St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, Richmond, Kentucky.  There, she also held numerous positions such as a Steward, Trustee, Choir member, Missionary Society and her greatest joy, Young People Department (YPD) Director. Rev. McKee has always had a special place in her heart for young people. She states, “If I can help somebody as I travel along, then my living is not in vain”. She was also a Youth Counselor for an all girls’ home for young teenage mothers in Somerset, Kentucky. In 1997, she relocated to Iowa where she faithfully served as a steward in the Coppin Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa.  After relocating to Lafayette, Indiana, Rev. McKee was active member at Bethel African Methodist Church serving on its Steward Board, Stewardess Board, Choir, YPD Director, Women’s Fellowship Bible Study, Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Church Sermon Presenter, and ministerial staff.   In 2008, Rev. McKee heard the call of the Lord, requesting her to greater service. She accepted her call into the ministry in August of 2008 and preached her initial sermon in December of 2008. She was also licensed to preach in December 2008. She is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  She has served as the proud pastor of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Seymour, Indiana and the proud pastor of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Plainfield, Indiana.  She has served as the North District and South District of the Indiana Conference Secretary, Finance Committee of South Indiana District Conference, and Personal Finance Secretary to Presiding Elder E. Gordon in the South Indiana District. numerous presentations, and speaking engagements.  While living in Selma, Alabama, she worshipped and served at Brown Chapel A. M. E. Church and at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. 

To complement these experiences, she is one of the founding Board Members and former Board Director for the Iowa Community College Medical Technology Program, where she also served as an Instructor. She has served as a Phlebotomy Instructor, Medical Laboratory Technician, and Medical Technologist. She has a Black Belt in Healthcare Transformation and in LEAN Transformation. She is a certified Medical Lab Technician by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), and a certified Medical Technologist by American Medical Technology (AMT). She has served on the Minority Health Coalition of Tippecanoe County Board of Directors in Lafayette, Indiana. Her professional organizations consist of National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), Who’s Who’s Among Professional Business Women and Who’s Who’s Among International Business Professionals.

Rev. McKee is the Director of Laboratory Services at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Kentucky. Prior to her assignment at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Kentucky, Rev. McKee has also had a vivid professional journey and career.  Rev. McKee has held several positions in her medical career, which includes Chemistry Supervisor, 2nd and 3rd shift Supervisor, Lab Supervisor, Core Lab Supervisor, Assistant Lab Manager, and Regional Lab Director.  She has practiced these diverse leadership abilities in four different states including Kentucky, Iowa, Indiana, Alabama and now currently back in Kentucky. She has successfully consolidated three hospitals and designed and built three new hospital laboratories. Rev. McKee is a licensed and certified CLIA, CAP and COLA Inspector.
