Union City, Tenn.–It was difficult to tell who was more excited – students or their grandparents.
Smiles were nonetheless the theme of both Tuesday and Wednesday at Union City Elementary School, where Grandparents Day was celebrated with tremendous success by all.
Visitors gathered in the school gymnasium and were entertained with songs by each grade directed by music teacher Katie Tohn.
Students and their grandparents then enjoyed a snack and took advantage of photo opportunities and the chance to visit with teachers and staff in the school courtyard.
Tiny Tornado Academy students, kindergartners, 2nd graders, and 4th graders entertained their special guests on Tuesday, while Pre-K, 1st, and 3rd graders welcomed family members today.
“From the moment that our students walk into the gymnasium and search for their grandparents in the audience to the time that the adults wave to get their attention, it’s just magical,” UCES Principal Allison Palmer said. “It’s always a special time and an event we enjoy hosting for the memories it makes for everyone.”
