William “Bill” Melton

William “Bill” Melton, 81, of Paris, Tennessee, died Sunday, September 8, 2024, at his residence.

He retired as the owner & operator of Melton’s Service Center.  He was also the former service manager at Joe Mahan Ford, worked in sales for Dexter Advertising, and was a realtor for Lake Associates and Paris Realty.  In his younger years, Bill enjoyed building cars, doing body work, especially on Ford Mustangs.  He enjoyed woodworking, reading, fishing, and playing golf.  He loved sports and was an avid Tennessee Volunteers fan.  Bill was a U.S. Marine veteran and was Baptist by belief.

Bill was born March 10, 1943, in Vale, TN.

He was married August 31, 1996, to Nancy Ellis Melton, who survives, of Paris, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by his two daughters, Terri Melton and Phyllis Melton, both of Paris, TN; three stepdaughters, Kim (Kevin) Ward of Bells, TN, Beth (Brad) Jackson of Big Sandy, TN, and Staci (Travis) Stills of Milton, FL; two sisters, Doris (Kurly) Vrchoticky and Iris Scott both of IA; eight grandchildren, Micheal (Tabitha) Melton, Alex (Wesley) Cox, Bethanne (Bryce) Doyle, Brooke (Victor) Claybrooks, Abbie Ward, Emma Jackson, Tucker Jackson, and Audrey Jackson; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Marie King Melton; his uncle that raised him, Billy King; one stepdaughter, Lindsey Caldwell; and one sister, Francis Dettwiler.

Arrangements will be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, 38242.  The body is to be cremated.  Memorial visitation will be Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the memorial service beginning at 6:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Gary Collier officiating.

Named as honorary pallbearers are Bill’s golfing buddies & coffee drinking buddies.
