Donald Ray Winsett, 85, of Culver, Indiana, formerly of Henry County, died Saturday, August 24, 2024, at his residence.

He retired after a long career as Chief of Police Services for CSX Railroad.  He also worked for the Chicago Police Department in the early 1960’s.  Donald was a graduate of Springville High School and a Mason & member of the John B. Garrett Lodge #711 in Nashville, TN.

Donald was born January 27, 1939, in Springville, TN, to the late Earney Porter Winsett and the late Claudie Katherine Bennett Winsett.

He was married February 2, 1990, to Mariellen Anna Winsett, who survives, of Culver, IN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Leigh Winsett-Grandinett (Greg); step-daughter, Suzy and her husband Doug; one granddaughter, Kayla Michelle Winsett; and one great grandson, Jamison Pickens; five step-grandchildren, Natasha, Keenan (Amanda), Marissa, and Derek; two step-great-grandchildren, Oliver, Eliana, and one baby girl on the way; one nephew, Wayne Winsett; five nieces, Pat Winsett, Sissie (Eddie) Wiltshire, Robin (Tommy) Pierce, Alice (Donald) Ivy, and Brenda (Larry) Spencer.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Maria Winsett Hardy; one sister, Dorothy Virginia Winsett Whitworth; four brothers, William P. Winsett, Henry W. Winsett, Fred D. Winsett, and Robert I. Winsett; two nephews, David Winsett and Mike Scott; and two nieces; Cathy Winsett and Judy Gates.

Arrangements will be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, 38242.  Visitation will be Friday, August 30, from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Springville, TN.
