Family Home Lost In Suspicious Fire; Firefighter Treated For Heat Exhaustion

Weakley County, Tenn.–One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion and a family lost everything in a house fire in Weakley County Monday night. Cause of the fire is suspicious and is under investigation at this time, according to firefighters.

The Latham/Dukedom Volunteer Fire Department was called out around 8 p.m. to a working structure fire on Carney Rd.

First engine arrived within eight minutes to find a single story family dwelling fully involved. With the high temperatures, mutual aid was called for and received from Palmersville Volunteer Fire Department , Dresden Fire Department and Cuba Community Volunteer Fire Dept.

One LDVFD Firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion and has since been released. Firefighters were on scene for approximately 3 1/2 hours.

Fire officials said, “We would like to thank our mutual aid departments and their personnel for their quick response. Please keep the family of this home in your prayers and please pray for the Firefighter that suffered heat exhaustion. We’d also like to say Thank You to Weakley County 911 Weakley County Sheriff’s Department ,WCMES and Weakly County EMS for their assistance tonight.”
Cause of the fire is suspicious and is under investigation at this time.
