Billy Jones

Mr. Billy Jones, 91, of Paris, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at his residence.

His funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 23, 2024, conducted by Bro. Steve Davis. Named as pallbearers are, Donald Jay Watkins II, Daniel James Watkins, Austin Wilson, Jon Ellis, Mike Farris, and David Nash. Burial will follow the service in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled on Friday after 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

Billy Jones was born April 19, 1933 in the Shady Grove Community of Henry County, Tennessee to the late James William Jones and the late Ruth Corine Allen Jones. He married Juanita Farris Jones, who survives in Paris, on December 20, 1952. Billy is also survived by his daughter, Deneicia Gregson of Paris; son, Randall (Sue) Jones of Paris; grandchildren, Donald Jay (Jennifer) Watkins II, Amanda (Jon) Ellis, Daniel James Watkins, Angelia (Jason) Dotson, and Benji (Amber) Gregson; great-grandchildren, Austin Scott Wilson, Jacob Tyler Wilson, Luke William Ellis, Emma Grace Dotson, Oakleigh Mae Gregson, and Lucy Quinn Gregson; great-great-grandchild, Kase Travis Wilson; brother, Larry (Charlotte) Jones of Cecil, Alabama; and also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Billy is also preceded in death by son-in-law, Larry Gregson (prec. 2021) and by sisters, Dorothy Mae Jones who preceded in infancy and Margaret (Charlie) Merrell.

Mr. Jones was a 1951 graduate of Puryear High School. He was a longtime member of West Paris Baptist Church. Billy grew up in the Shady Grove Community, was an avid Crappie Fisherman and loved going to Okechobee, Florida every winter to fish. He was a charter member of the Fish Fry Sams Camping Club, served as TN State Director of the Good Sams Camping Club (1996-2003) where he traveled the U.S. attending State Samborees. Billy was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War time. He worked as a Conductor for the CSX Railroad (L&N) for 26 years.
