Paris, Tenn.–Earlier this year, Brownie Girl Scout Troop #40321 of Paris, Tennessee, embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Great Smoky Mountains, where they dedicated their time and energy to preserving one of America’s most cherished national parks. Through their hard work and commitment, the troop qualified for the prestigious National Park Service Resource Stewardship Scout Ranger Program, contributing more than 10 hours of volunteer service to the park.

The girls, full of enthusiasm and determination, took part in various conservation activities during their visit. From clearing trails to participating in environmental education programs, the troop’s efforts left a meaningful impact on the park’s natural beauty. Their dedication not only enhanced their understanding of environmental stewardship but also instilled a sense of responsibility toward protecting our national treasures.

The journey to the Smokies was made possible through the troop’s diligent fundraising efforts. The girls organized and executed successful fall product and cookie sales, which provided the necessary funds for their travel. This experience allowed the Brownies to develop important life skills such as budgeting, financial management, and teamwork. They meticulously created a budget, raised the funds, and managed their expenses during the trip, demonstrating a remarkable level of responsibility and foresight for their age.

In addition to their volunteer work, the troop members earned several badges throughout their adventure, further enriching their experience. The badges symbolize their achievements in various areas, including outdoor skills, community service, and financial literacy, making this trip both educational and rewarding.

The troop is led by Brooke Marr, Hope Marr, and Ashli Newcomb.

As fall approaches, Troop #40321 is gearing up for their next round of fall product sales, eager to continue their journey of growth, learning, and service. Their recent accomplishments in the Great Smoky Mountains have set a high standard, and the girls are excited to take on new challenges and opportunities in the coming year.

The community is encouraged to support the troop’s upcoming fall product sales, as the proceeds will help fund future endeavors that empower these young girls to make a positive difference in the world. Through their experiences in the Great Smoky Mountains, Troop #40321 has shown that with determination, teamwork, and a passion for service, anything is possible.

Ford Newcomb also participated in the National Park Service Resource Stewardship Scout Ranger Program and received the patch and letter of recognition. He is a member of local Cub Scout Pack #222.
