Paris, Tenn.–Political newcomer Randy Geiger is the new Henry County Mayor, defeating former State Representative Tim Wirgau.
Geiger said, “I appreciate very much all the people who helped me get this position of County Mayor and as I said during the campaign, I’m committed to serving all the citizens of Henry County.”
Speaking at the Election Commission after the early voting results were posted, Wirgau said, “Congratulations to Randy. I hope he does a good job as mayor and I’ll support him.”
Final results were: Geiger 2,733 votes or 61.66 percent, while Wirgau received 1,690 votes or 38.14 percent. Geiger ran as a Republican, with Wirgau an Independent.
According to the statistics released by the Election Commission, voter turnout was 20.71 percent, with 21961 registered voters.
In other races:
Scott Morrison beat Robert Abbott Jr. by a large margin for the County Property Assessor position. Morrison received 3,246 votes, or 74.55 percent, with Abbott receiving 1,107 or 25.42 percemt.
County Commission, District 1:
David Flowers, 527 or 41.69 percent; Gatlin Primrose, 336 or 26.58 percent; Dorothy Cook,223 votes or 17.64 percent; Ted Kernn, 175 votes or 13.84 percent.
County Commission, District 5:
Jay Travis, 611 votes for 99.63 percent.
Superintendent of Roads:
Richie Chilcutt, 3820 or 99.35 percent.
Road Board Chair:
Matthew Craig 3552 votes, 99.86 percent
Road Board District 2:
Kyle Norwood, 703 votes 99.43 percent
Road Board District 5:
Clarence Roy Henry 716 99.86 percent
County School Board District 1:
Russell Orr, 727, 99.73 percent
County School Board District 3:
