
Shady Grove Baptist Church has reached a milestone very few do. The church will be celebrating its 200 years as a congregation, which was founded in 1824.
Shady Grove Baptist Church is located at 4880 Shady Grove Road and will be commemorating the milestone with a homecoming July 28. Steve Davis will lead a service at 11 a.m. followed by singing by The Congers at 1:30 p.m.
A revival will be held July 29-31, which begin at 7 p.m. each night. Speakers will be Larry Dukes July 29; Randy Kuykendall July 30 and Chad Kennedy July 31.
Elder Lewis Moore Edgar served as ‘messenger’ in the church’s early days. The church operated as a ‘regular’ or ‘primitive’ Baptist Church before joining the Obion Association of Churches in 1845.
