William (Billy) Slate Gray (1959 – 2024) of Dover, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on July 17th, 2024 at the age of 64. He was born October 18th, 1959 to the late Thornton and Reva Gray. After attending Stewart County High School, Billy graduated from Austin Peay State University. He served as a Stewart County
School Board member for twenty years. He went on to spend over thirty years as a TVA employee. Billy was a faithful member of Rose Valley Church. He loved his family immensely, and in addition to spending time with them, he also enjoyed hunting and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his brother David Hicks. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Kelly; sons, Gannon Gray (Jessica) and Will Gray (Carlee); grandsons, Lathan Gray and Roen Gray; granddaughter, Aubrey Gray; siblings, Andy Hicks (Brenda), Craig Bagby, Frankie Gray (Melissia), Leta Joiner (Joey), George Gray (Anita), Fritz Gray (Karon), and Gayla Grise (Keith); as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Anglin Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11:00 am and continue until the funeral service at 1:00 pm with Bro. Paul Edwards and Bro. David Covington officiating. Burial will follow at Heflin Cemetery, Dover, TN. Serving as pallbearers are Will Gray, Gannon Gray, Frankie Gray, Fritz Gray, George Gray, Craig Bagby and Andy Hicks. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Williams, Pat Bagsby, Barry Elliott, Stoney Odom, Tim Barrow, Mickey Atkins, Freddy Jones, Charles Brigham and Bryan Watson.
