Dyersburg—The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is hosting a free Waterfowl Field Day on August 3 at Bogota Wildlife Management Area in Dyer County. The event aims to educate and engage hunters, farmers, landowners, and birdwatchers and will include presentations on waterfowl and their habitats. The event will host a duck-calling contest and broadcast live podcasts on waterfowl, farming, and everyday life.

Hunters, farmers, landowners, and birdwatchers will learn about waterfowl and habitat management. Landowners can learn about increased opportunities for financial assistance to enhance duck habitats. The event will feature presentations by natural resource professionals covering various topics. TWRA will host tours of Bogota WMA crops and waterfowl management areas.

Tennessee Tech University’s Dr. Brad Cohen and his research team will be the day’s first presenter, sharing the latest on mallard telemetry research, which tracks the migration of mallards and how hunting pressure affects their movements. Other exciting presentations will come from Tyler Hand, a leading figure in Ducks Unlimited, USDA-NRCS Biologist Mike Hansbrough, and the Tennessee Wildlife Federation.

This event is not just about learning; it’s about having fun and making memories. It’s open to all ages, and children are welcome! A kids’ activity area with inflatable archery, a wildlife education trailer, and games will ensure a fun-filled day for the whole family. Waterfowl vendors will sell merchandise on-site, adding to the day’s excitement.
