Gravemarker Standing Tall For First Time In Over 50 Years

city-ceme-rebecca-upright-looking

Paris, Tenn.–For the first time in at least 50 years, the gravemarker for Miss Rebecca Davis is standing tall. Miss Davis passed away in 1894 and is buried in Paris City Cemetery, but her ornate monument was buried underground with a tree grown around it. Thanks to Brent Brauer and Kyle Parker of Gravesite Restorations of Greenfield, the gravemarker is now upright and waiting for cleaning. As we reported earlier, the task of freeing Miss Davis’ gravemarker was an arduous one for the pair, involving a lot of hard work and a variety of tools. They also are restoring several other gravesites in City Cemetery. The work is being done for the Henry County Cemetery Committee. Shannon McFarlin photo.
