Paris, Tenn.–Fifteen year old Timothy Tyler, son of Samantha Tyler of Buchanan, placed second this weekend in the Rotary Club 4 Way Speech Contest held in Jackson at the Hilton Doubletree Inn during the annual District 6760 Conference. Two other contestants had been selected along with Timothy for the competition. Students of the District 6760 were invited to participate at the local level before competing in a zoom competition leading to the finals this past weekend.
Timothy placed second in his speech and received $2000 in prize money. Involved in band, and speech as well as an Interact member, Tyler did a fantastic job in his presentation. According to David Jackson one of the Interact Club sponsors who attended along with Paris Rotary Club President Elect Mark Archer, “Everyone around us was saying, ‘I’m glad I don’t have to judge. This is the first year we’ve had the contest and Timothy was chosen from three local competitors. I look forward to next year and even more involvement from local 9th-12th graders.”
