Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Paris woman on multiple charges, including impersonating a licensed professional, theft of property under $1,000, criminal impersonation and criminal trespassing.
Sheriff Josh Frey said the department’s Criminal Investigation Division has been working on this investigation for some time and it culminated in the arrest of Melissa Bennett of 802 Curtis St.
The Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a scam that involves a home that is currently listed for sale at 825 Highway 69 North by Cannon Reality group in Paris.
During this investigation, investigators found that the home is actually for sale by Cannon Reality Group but is being listed on Facebook by multiple accounts for rent. These accounts have the phone number 810-447-9363 associated with them for a contact number.
This investigation has found that once you contact the phone number listed, the person you speak with will ask you several questions regarding your interest of the home. The person would then ask you to submit an application that is sent via email along with a refundable fee of $60 to an account that’s provided.
Frey said these accounts and persons DO NOT have anything to do with Cannon Reality Group out of Paris. This house is actually currently for sale.
