Gary “Tony” Underwood, 72, of Buchanan, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at his residence. His funeral service will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday, June 9, 2024 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Russell Ragsdale of Friendship Baptist Church to officiate.
Serving as pallbearers are Timmy Owens, Danny Holley, Larry Jackson, Bobby Steele, Ricky Moon, and Mike Aldridge.
Honorary pallbearers are Jason French, Bobby Compton, Roger Grissom, Danny Williams, Larry Jones and Tommy McDonald. Burial will follow services at Walker Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled on Sunday after 11:00 A.M. until time of service.
Tony Underwood was born June 14, 1951 in Martin, Tennessee to the late Prentice Edwin Underwood and the late Anna Merle McSwain Underwood. He married his loving wife Beverly Holley Underwood on October 20, 2000 and she survives in Buchanan. Tony is also survived by his son, Pat Anderson Underwood of Paris; grandson, Jamison Beal Underwood; brothers, Dale (Marcia) Underwood of Camden and Steve Underwood of Puryear; and by nieces and nephew, Melanie, Bert and Amy.
Mr. Underwood was a faithful servant of the Lord and enjoyed attending Friendship Baptist Church in Buchanan. Tony was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, golf and walking and excelled at all of them. He dearly loved his family and most especially his wife, son and grandson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 1385 Friendship Road, Buchanan, TN 38222 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
