Paris, Tenn.–Our area should expect another wave of severe storms tonight as Henry County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Ron Watkins said, “They’ve raised our danger level from a Level 3 to a Level 4 for tonight. We’re under a tornado watch until 11 p.m. and they’ve said we in a “Particular Dangerous Situation” because of the day-time heating we’ve experienced today.”

The storm shelters in the county will reopen at 8 p.m. tonight: Inman School Tornado Shelter on Harrison St in Paris, Harrelson School, Lakewood School, and Henry School Shelters. They were open this morning, also.

Sheriff Josh Frey said the west and northwestern parts of Henry County were the worst hit in the storms that hit this morning.

Watkins said, “We drove around this morning, checking on everything and found quite a bit of tree and utility damage. Ten houses had trees on them and there were more properties with wind damage.”

Watkins gave a shout out to the first responders working hard to restore power, clear roads and remove debris today: the Paris BPU, highway department, Rescue Squad, Sheriff’s Office, Paris Landing, Cottage Grove and Puryear Fire Departments.

“Everyone needs to be aware of the danger tonight and pay attention to the weather. People need a plan and a sturdy place to be”, Watkins said.
