The McKenzie Rebels defeated the Richland Raiders from Lynnville Wednesday night in two games to advance to the first round of the TSSAA state baseball tournament next week in the Murfreesboro area. McKenzie scored one run in the first game of the evening and Tate Surber held the Raiders to only two hits in the 1 to 0 shutout. The Rebels led off with a triple and double in the first two batters Hayden Garrett and Jake Cassidy to get the early lead. McKenzie would score a third run later in the game and Richland would threaten but could only get two runs across the plate. Lane Anderson went the distance on the mound for the win in the second contest. McKenzie will play next Tuesday but the opponent has not been determined yet for the game.
