Elgenia Parker Sliger

Elgenia Parker Sliger, 89, of Paris, Tennessee, died Saturday, April 27, 2024, at AHC Paris.

Born Sunday, August 12, 1934, in the VanDyke Community of Henry County, she was the daughter of the late Elgin Isaac Parker and the late Mattie Emily Davis Parker.

Elgenia was a Christian by faith.

Elgenia married Billy Sliger Saturday, October 20, 1951, and they were married almost 64 years before he preceded her in death Monday, June 10, 2013.

She enjoyed traveling in their RV with her late husband, and spending time with her family and all the kids.

In addition to her husband and parents, Elgenia was also preceded in death by her daughter: Ginger Carol Odom Doughten; three sisters: Francis Emily Blackwell, Sue Dell Hubbard, and Mary Lou Atchison; and three brothers: Larry Elgin Parker, Thomas Joseph Parker, and Jesse Darden “J.D” Parker, Sr.

Survivors include a brother: Paul Henry Parker of Camden, Tennessee; two granddaughters: Staci (Chris) McGrady, of Paris, and Jeni Odom, of Knoxville, Tennessee; five great-grandchildren: Hunter (Ashley) Brogdon, Tyler (Kori) Brogdon, Weston (Jaryn) Brogdon, Kara Grace Brogdon, and Ava McGrady; and four great-great-grandchildren: Maddox Brogdon, Sutton Brogdon, Blair Brogdon, and Eli Brogdon; and a son-in-law: Gary Doughten.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN 38242, will be handling the arrangements.

Her body is to be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
