Theatre Camp Set At Discovery Park This Summer

Union City, Tenn. — Masquerade Theatre and The Obion River Regional Libraries are hosting a theatre camp this summer at Discovery Park of America for children ages six to eight on Monday, June 3 – Friday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Campers will present their final showcase on Saturday, June 15 at 9 a.m. on Discovery Park’s Total Tech Solutions Stage. Theatre Camp is sponsored by the Warner Corner.

The camp will be directed by volunteer Jenny Gillihan with assistance from volunteers from Masquerade Theatre and Discovery Park staff.

Students will learn all aspects of theatre production including costume selection, prop and set production, character development, acting, choreography and more.

Camp director Jenny Gillihan is an educator and librarian who grew up in community theater. She has served as the founder and director of Masquerade Theatre’s Children and Teen Summer Workshops, owner and director of Spotlight Performing Arts Academy and co-director of Discovery Park’s Historical Theatre Academy. Gillihan has directed over 30 plays and musicals and written and adapted various scripts from classic fairy tales and literature.
