Mayors proclaim April 2024 “Sexual Assault Awareness Month” in Camden and Benton County.
Official Proclamation to be presented at the Benton County Courthouse.
Benton County, Tennessee, April 11, 2024: Big Sandy Mayor John Clement, Camden Mayor Roger Pafford and Benton County Mayor Mark Ward have announced that the month of April 2024 will be recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Benton County.
The mayors issued a joint statement: “We are extremely proud of the job that WRAP (Wo/Men’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program) and other organizations do in advocating for and assisting survivors of Sexual Assault in Benton County. Rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment impacts our communities in myriad negative ways. Sadly, statistics indicate that one in four women and one in six men experience sexual assault in their lifetime. We recognize the remarkable strength, courage, and resilience that survivors possess. We are humbled by the outstanding work of WRAP, and we are proud to have the honor and opportunity to officially recognize this important month in our community.”
An official presentation of this proclamation will take place at the Benton County Courthouse, at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
