Erin, Tenn.–A man found guilty of attempted murder of an Erin Police officer was sentenced to life without parole, plus eight years, at a sentencing hearing today.
BJ Brown was found guilty January 25 of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and unlawful possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Brown sparked an hours-long manhunt when he was arrested for the shooting June 27, 2022 during a traffic stop. Brown was wanted in two states, accused of the execution-style murder of Cassandra Jones in New Orleans on Monday morning, and of shooting a Tennessee police officer who tried to stop him in that state about 12 hours later.
He has not been sentenced in the New Orleans case yet.
