Union City, Tenn.–The widely acclaimed Union City band program recently celebrated the accomplishment of three members.
Flutists Lindsey Del Valle and Hailey Record were chosen for the All-West Band from UC Middle School, while trombone player Landon Adams earned the same honor from UCHS.
The students participated in the All-West Conference, held at the Cannon Center in Memphis earlier this month.
Union City’s trio was selected to participate in the event in January. They were chosen by scoring high enough in an audition competition against other students from West Tennessee within their grade level.
They began practicing with other chosen students from West Tennessee soon afterward and presented a group concert last weekend.
Del Valle placed ninth, and Record was 12th among 86 flute players to earn their All-West designation. McAdams was 21st against 68 others in the trombone section to receive the same accolade.
“I am extremely proud of these students for their individual accomplishments,” veteran Union City band director Jason Deem said. “All our students who auditioned went above and beyond to become better musicians.
“In the grand scheme of things, these individual performance opportunities improve our whole band in Union City Schools.”
