Runaway Suspect Apprehended By Sheriff

Dover, Tenn.–The suspect who fled on foot from Stewart County deputies early this morning was apprehended a few hours later.

Edward Lovett bailed out of a car during a traffic stop and had active felony warrants from Henry County. He later broke into a camper and was apprehended by Sheriff Frankie Gray in the river.

The incident began at approximately 2 am Monday morning when Deputy Ryan Griffin attempted to stop a vehicle near Hwy 79 and Joiner Hollow Road. Before the vehicle stopped, a male passenger bailed out of the car and fled on foot. The female driver finally stopped the vehicle and a search was conducted and drug paraphernalia was found. It was also determined that the male who fled had active felony warrants out of Henry County.
Deputies continued to look for the man through the morning hours and responded to calls at TSC and the area near Bagsby Hill Road on possible sightings. Deputies spotted the man in the area near Rays Barber Shop crossing the mud flat and creek.
The suspect broke into a camper near Almost Yesterday Antiques. Later after receiving reports from a citizen he was observed walking on Bumpus Mills Road near River Road.
Sheriff Frankie Gray then found him on Bumpus Mills Road where he fled and jumped over the guard rail. He then ran into the water near the bridge were he was chased down and held in the water by the Sheriff until backup arrived and he was handcuffed and taken into custody.
Arrested was Edward Lovett and Alice Parrish.
