
Paris, Tenn.–With the whopping $35,443 raised Saturday, the Henry County Helping Hand Radio Auction topped the $300,ooo mark, making the year-to-date total now at $319,096.
The Paris First United Methodist Church raised over $35,000 at three auctions Saturday–a day auction, night auction and silent auction. Church members donated hundreds of items making up 35 total slates of homemade baked goods, meal boxes, cobblers, cakes, pies, fudge, ham biscuits, stained glass, homemade quilt and canes and much, much more.
The day time auction raised $22,621, with the silent auction raising $1,680.
There were at least two noteworthy bidding wars during the day auction. A coconut cake, made by Carolyn Scarborough, went for $2,700. Carolyn made the beautiful three-layer cake in honor of Barbara Boden.
Day time auctioneers were Wendy Barnhart and Amy Veazey. Night auctioneer was Doug Taylor.
With only nine more days to go of the 2024 auction, Monday’s items will be donated by the FFA, Young Farmers & Ranchers, 4-H Clubs of Henry County, HCHS No Fly Zone and Eiffel Gardens. Tuesday’s items will be donated by Paris City employees, Paris Board of Public Utilities, Como community and Project Help. Wednesday’s items are donated by the Van Dyke/Routon communities and Spring Hill Baptist Church.
