Las Vegas, Nevada–Amidst the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, a group of passionate Bethel University sports management students found themselves at the epicenter of one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year: the Super Bowl.
Associate Professor and Sports Management Program Coordinator, Dr. Josh Greer brought four sports management majors with him to this year’s big game: Makenya Gaskin, Mike Rowser, Adeline Edwards, and Eric Arnold.
Gaskin, hailing from Atwood, TN, is a local student-athlete who competes in track for Bethel University and is deeply engaged in the sports management program. This was her second Super Bowl; she has also been involved in other major sporting events, such as the NFL Draft and the Men’s Final Four.
While this was Rowser and Arnold’s first Super Bowl, they have participated in other events for the sports management program—notably, last year in the NFL Draft. Rowser, a Senior from Milwaukee, WI, had this to say about his experience in the Super Bowl, “These trips allowed me to gain new experiences and network with people in the field that I want to work in.”
Edwards, a Junior Sports Management major from Paducah said, “Being a part of this trip has been an eye-opening experience for me. I went on this trip to help me decide what I wanted to pursue with my degree. After working at the NFL house and the Super Bowl, I enjoyed watching everyone’s reactions when they entered the doors. I was happy for them to be satisfied with their game day experience. I met incredible people passionate about what they do in this field of study. This trip also allowed me to network with those who enjoy their jobs and students in a sports management program.”
Bethel is proud of these students and their dedication to the sports management program. For more information about this program, please visit BethelU.edu or contact the sports management program coordinator, Dr. Josh Greer, at greerj@bethelu.edu.
