Sharon, Tenn.–An early Sunday morning fire claimed a vacant house in the Sharon area and this is the 5th suspicious fire at this same vicinity over the last year. Sharon Fire Department officials are asking for the public’s help.
At 5:20 am Sunday, the Sharon Fire Department was dispatched to 3073 Sidonia Hwy 89, near the Gaylord Road intersection in downtown Sidonia. 911 dispatchers stated that a passerby called and alerted them that there was a house on fire.
Firefighters arrived to find a vacant house with heavy fire showing flames from the structure. SFD requested mutual aid from Greenfield and Martin Fire Departments.
The three departments contained the fire to the one structure as another vacant house was located nearby on the property, along with multiple abandoned vehicles. With no electrical power connected to either structure, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
If anyone has any information about this fire, please contact the Sharon Fire Department at 731-364-5454.
Chief Eddings stated that water had to be transported from the City of Sharon for over an hour, using over 20,000 gallons of water. This is costly and it tied up three fire departments for several hours.
