
Gladys Evelyn Stewart Carpenter, 86 of Paris, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at her residence.
Ms. Carpenter was born January 19, 1938 in Matthews, Missouri to the late James Elmer Stewart and the late Haultress Lee Walker Stewart.
Ms. Carpenter was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church.
Gladys was known to be a wonderful caregiver, loving mother, and grandmother.
She adored her family and they loved her deeply.
She married David Leslie Carpenter, Friday, December 6, 1974, and he preceded her in death in 2018. Besides her parents and husband, Gladys is also preceded in death by her sisters: Peggy Waldren and Doris Owens, and brothers: Earl, Michael, Jackie, and Thomas Stewart.
She is survived by her daughters: Jewel Chenault, of Paris, and Tracy E. Laughrey, of Florida; sons: Terry Ray (Vonna) Harless, of Scott City, Kansas, Roger D. (Carol) Harless, of Florida, and Christopher D. (Vicky) Harless, of New York; sister: Margaret Smith, of Florida; brother: Richard Stewart, of Buchanan; also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Her body is to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be planned for a later date.
