Paris, Tenn.–At a short and sweet meeting Monday evening, members of the Henry County Commission were introduced to the new Director of the Office on Aging.

Patty Robertson has just started as the Director of the agency, which is located in the Central Services building at 55 Jones Bend Extended. County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway said Robertson “has done a great job of getting acclimated” to the position.

Robertson told the commissioners, “I look forward to working with the program. Hopefully, we can make it even bigger and better.”

The commission approved a request from James and Alonna Tosh to quitclaim property on Atlantic Avenue in Henry. The portion of the road to be quitclaimed runs south from the south end of a connector which connects Atlantic Ave. to Highway 79S.

County Attorney Rob Whitfield said the property is an abandoned area of Atlantic Ave. and there is “no use for it as a public road”.

County Road Supervisor Richie Chilcutt said the quitclaim request “is mainly a safety issue” and has already been approved by the road board.

In other business:

–The commissioners authorized the sale of deliquent tax properties at a reduced price for two parcels of land at 201 Frank Hart Rd. An offer of $500 has been made by Deana Bowden for each of the parcels. The authorization was approved with one ‘no’ vote from Commissioner Ralph Wiles.

–Wiles also voted no on an action to authorize changes in the budget for the general fund for the election commission, county trustee, chancery court clerk, sheriff’s office, coroner, and health department. The remainder of the commissioners voted yes (except two who were ill and not at the meeting–Jay Travis and Randy Gean).

–Upon recommendation of Chilcutt, the commission approved additions, deletions, and closures to the Henry County Road list. Added was Kimberly Lane, while Old Timer Rd. was removed and a section of Vickery Lane was closed. It has already been approved by the road board.
