Puryear, Tenn.–A home in Puryear was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon but thankfully no one was injured.

Paris Fire Department personnel were called to provide mutual aid for the Puryear Volunteer Fire Department. Paris firefighters said they heard explosions as they drove up and the fire was fully involved when they arrived.

The cause of the fire and explosion has not been determined yet.

The house is located at 9520 Hwy. 641N, across the highway from Spanky’s restaurant. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was also at the scene directing traffic.

A gofundme campaign has been started by the granddaughter of residents Carolyn and Donald Hatcher. Also living in the house was Bruce Ivey and all of them lost everything they had in the explosion and fire. Donald and Bruce have serious health problems. Donald has cancer and Bruce has COPD and requires oxygen tanks. According to their granddaughter, Heather Vasseur “They are all elderly and need help”.
