Henry Co. Government Offices Close Early

cth-in-snow-jan-16-24

Henry County Government Offices closed at 11:30 a.m. due to winter weather occurring this morning.  This will allow employees the opportunity to get home safely. Closure includes the Courthouse, Courthouse Annex, Airport, Central Building, Health Dept, and the Recycling Center.  Mayor John Penn Ridgeway received information roads are already glazing over in counties to our west and south creating hazardous driving conditions.

Ron Watkins, Henry County Emergency Management Director wants to remind drivers freezing rain can create black ice on the roadways which can be extremely dangerous.  Watkins urges motorists if they don’t have to be on the roads to stay home if possible.  The weather forecast is calling for freezing rain and possible glazing of ice and or snow for most of the day today.  Temperatures are again expected to dip down to below zero again this weekend.

Mayor Ridgeway will make a decision regarding county offices opening on Friday later today.

The community warming shelter at Inman School, 400 Harrison St in Paris remains open through the weekend.  5 persons have used the shelter since opening last Friday evening.  First Baptist, First United Methodist Church, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have been providing meals for the shelter.  Watkins wishes to thank all involved in supporting the shelter for our community.
