TVA, Paris BPU Asks Customers To Conserve Electricity

bpu-workers-pled-wade-feb-3

Paris, Tenn.–Extreme cold temperatures have created a high energy demand across the Tennessee Valley. As expected, TVA is asking that all electric power consumers VOLUNTARILY reduce their use of electricity from 1 p.m. today (Tuesday) until 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Conserving electricity as much as possible will help to maintain continued supply of power to essential services and to avoid possible interruptions of service.
TVA and Paris BPU are working around the clock to make power available to consumers. Prior to this public request, both entities have turned off all non-essential load within our facilities.
Paris BPU requests that all customers cooperate with this request and to do your part to conserve energy at this critical time. Customers can participate by:
❄️Postponing the use of electric appliances such as dishwashers, dryers, and cooking equipment
❄️Reducing the use of electric heat by lowering thermostats below normal levels (at least 2 degrees)
❄️Turning off non-essential lights, appliances, and other electrical equipment
❄️Conserving hot water
Thank you all for how you will contribute to these efforts. You are appreciated.
