Roger Alvin Owens

Roger Alvin Owens, 74, of McKenzie, Tennessee, formerly of Henry County, died Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his residence in McKenzie.

Roger was born Tuesday, June 7, 1949, in Dyer County, Tennessee, to the late Edward J. Owens and the late Mary Holland Owens.

He retired as a welder from Goodyear Tire. 

He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Henry, Tennessee.

Roger enjoyed horses and was a member of the Henry Saddle Club.

He was married Saturday, June 7, 1975, to Peggy Ann Swofford Owens, who died Monday, February 6, 2023.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, Roger Paul Owens; and two grandchildren, Coach Owens Morley and Pax Roe Owen. 

He is survived by one daughter: Amber (Richard) Owen, of McKenzie, Tennessee; two sisters: Rose Owens, of Paris, Tennessee, and Gloria (Jerry) Muzzall, of Henry, Tennessee; two brothers: Jim (Sharon) Owens, of Greenville, South Carolina, and Robert Owens, of Paris, Tennessee; and three grandchildren: Kaiden Owens, Chasden Owens, and Essie Temple Owen.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, Tennessee

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Emily Walker officiating.

Burial will follow in New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery on Henry Midway Road in Henry, Tennessee.
