Fort Donelson National Battlefield to be Closed Due to Winter Weather

Presently under a Winter Storm Warning with predictions for 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation, Fort Donelson NB will be closed to the public on Monday, January 15, 2024.
Affected facilities and park units include the Visitor Center, Dover Hotel/ “Surrender House,” tour roads, Fort Donelson National Cemetery, and the national park lands of the Fort Heiman, Kentucky, Unit.
The above resources will remain closed until at least noon on Tuesday January 16, while park conditions are assessed, and necessary removal or treatment takes place.
Park status and updates will be posted via area media outlets, as well as on the Fort Donelson website (https://www.nps.gov/fodo) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/FortDonelsonNPS).

The winter storm is anticipated to drop 2-4 inches of snow across the Fort Donelson area between Sunday evening and Tuesday morning, with temperatures in the single digits and sub-zero windchills.
National Weather Service officials are discouraging travel during that time and for those out and a about to take extra precautions and to dress appropriately for the severe temperatures.
