
Trenton, Tenn.–On Monday, January 8th, in the Gibson County Circuit Court at Trenton, before the Honorable Clayburn Peeples, Ricardo Munoz, age 34, of Missouri entered a guilty plea to serve 40 years at 100 percent in the Tennessee Department of Corrections for second degree murder.
Munoz murdered his girlfriend, Hannah Gierer also of Missouri, in Trenton on June 30, 2022. This was a murder and suicide attempt. Munoz spent multiple days at Regional One formerly known as the Med in Memphis.
“Our hearts go out to the Victim’s family and friends. This was an avoidable violent domestic matter that resulted in the death of Hannah Gierer. Violent crime is our office’s highest priority. We will continue to focus on removing violent offenders from Crockett, Gibson, and Haywood counties. It should be noted our office prosecuted this serious violent case in less than two years,” according to District Attorney General, Frederick Agee.”
The case was prosecuted by District Attorney General Frederick Agee, Assistant District Attorney Nina Seiler, Investigator Jimmy Wilson, Victim Witness Coordinator Carol Oliver, Legal Secretary Dawn Morrow and Trenton Police Department.
