Gwendolyn ‘Gwen’ Byrd, 83, of Dover, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her residence Monday, November 6, 2023.
She was born Friday, January 26, 1940, the beloved daughter of the late Johnnie W. and Lora Tucker Elliott.
Gwen was a faithful member of Dover Church of Christ.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and having her family into her home.
Gwen enjoyed watching the birds at her feeders and all the wildlife that would visit her back yard.
She enjoyed her flower gardens and especially loved receiving a fresh bouquet of flowers to brighten her room.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to everyone.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband: Frank Byrd, who she married Sunday, July 10, 1960; brothers: Maurice Elliott, Frazier “Bill” Elliott and George ‘Peewee’ Elliott; and sister: Jessie Mae Wilson Cole.
She leaves behind her family who will cherish their memories: daughters: Betsy Byrd and Bonnie Luffman (Gary Heflin); brother: John Elliott (Angela); precious grandson: Ethan Luffman (Taylor); great-grandson: River Luffman; and a great-grandson due in 2024.
A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Indian Mound, Tenneessee, with Bro. Terrance Cottle and Van Herndon officiating.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
