Union City, Tenn.–Union City’s Golden Tornado Marching Band has regularly put on a must-see show this season.
And the local community will get one final chance to witness the Purple People and their 2023 show before they compete in the Tennessee Division 2 State Championships in Smyrna on Nov. 4.
Fresh off another stellar performance at the Paragould Marching Invitational, the UCHS band will present a free community show on Thursday, Nov. 2, at War Memorial Stadium.
The performance will begin at 8 p.m.
After earning multiple pieces of hardware at South Gibson County and Huntingdon competitions, the Marching Tornadoes shined brightly again last weekend in Arkansas.
UCHS received Superior Awards in band, color guard, and percussion.
Among the honors claimed were:
1st Place – Color Guard Class AAAA
2nd Place – Percussion Class AAAA
3rd Place – Band Class AAAA
5th Place – Visual Performance Large Division
Out of 26 bands overall, Union City placed first in Color Guard, third in Percussion, and sixth in Band.
“The Paragould contest was tough with 26 bands competing, and I was pleased with our performance,” Deem said. “Our entire production is on the field, and it is exciting to see the growth each week and how we stack up against our competitors.
“I feel we are ready for a strong finish to our competitive season next week.”
The D2 State Championships will be hosted by Stewart’s Creek High School.
