
Huntingdon, Tenn.–A joint funeral service will be held Friday at First Baptist Church in Huntingdon for a mother and son killed in a collision with an intoxicated driver.
Courtney Stafford Turner, age 33, and her son Nolan Shae Turner, age 11, were killed as a result of the accident and her daughter Ella Turner, age 8, was airlifted to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. A friend, Mikah Joyner, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Courtney initially was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.
Courtney was traveling northbound on Broad St. in Lexington last week when a 2002 Dodge van driven by Bayron Gomez-Perez, age 25, which was southbound, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the Turner vehicle. Perez was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, eight counts of vehicular assault, DUI, driving on the right side of the roadway and violation of the open container law.
Joint funeral services for Courtney Stafford Turner and Nolan Turner will be conducted 1:00PM Friday October 27, 2023 at First Baptist Church Huntingdon. Interment will follow in McLemoresville Cemetery. Brother Kevin Gallimore, Ashley Minton and Jesse Turner officiating.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church Huntingdon on Thursday from 2 PM until 8 PM and on Friday from 10 AM until time of services at 1 PM.
In an effort to comfort children that will be in attendance, we ask that you please honour Courtney and Nolan by wearing a fun shirt they would enjoy.

Ms. Turner was born August 2, 1990. Preceded in death by a son Nolan Stafford Turner; maternal grandmother Betty Depriest; paternal grandparents Joe & Jeffie Stafford.
She is survived by one daughter Ella Turner of Huntingdon, Tennessee; parents Brent (Amber) Stafford of Atwood, Tennessee and Linda Scarbrough of Atwood, Tennessee; sisters Ashley (Josh) Minton, Michelle (Mark) Ghyers of McKenzie, Tennessee, Kayce (Chase Pentecost) Stafford of Atwood, Tennessee, Addie Mathis of Atwood, Tennessee and Presley Mathis of Atwood, Tennessee; brother Justin (Jessica) Carmichael of Ft. Worth, Texas; maternal grandfather Jerry Depriest of Trezevant, Tennessee; paternal grandparents Allen & Paula McMinn of Gibson, Tennessee; nieces & nephews Owen, Dierks, Merritt, Mallory and Logan.
Nolan was born September 26, 2012; 5th grade student at Huntingdon Middle School. He enjoyed sports, video games and being an big brother. He was preceded in death by his mother Courtney Stafford Turner; maternal great-grandparent Betty Depriest, maternal great-grandparents Joe and Jeffie Stafford; paternal great-grandparents Buddy Carter, Charles and Linda Bynum, Rex Turner Sr., and aunt Kirsten Bynum.
