Murray, Ky.–A Murray couple has been arrested for the abuse and death of a 17-month-old baby.
At 5 p.m. Monday, October 23, officers from the Murray Police Department responded to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital Emergency Department in regards to an unresponsive 17-month-old female with signs of possible physical abuse.
The child was later pronounced deceased. An investigation into the child’s death was conducted in conjunction with the Calloway County Coroner’s Office.
MPD Detectives gathered evidence which led to the arrest of Murray residents Chyanne Niemeyer, age 24, and Nathaniel Gibson, age 20. Niemeyer and Gibson are each charged with Murder and Criminal Abuse, 1st Degree (Child 12 or Under). The investigation is ongoing, and further details are unable to be released at this time.
The Murray Police Department would like to remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
