Paris, Tenn.–Thanks to Fisher Lawrence and his Eagle Scout project, Paris now has a pet food pantry.
Lawrence constructed and painted the pantry, which is located at the entrance of the Atkins-Porter Dog Park. The pantry contains pet food and treats that are free to pet owners in need. It is hoped that the public will help keep the pantry stocked and Lawrence himself replenishes it about once a week.
There are other pantries at the Dog Park, too, including a Little Food Pantry and a recycling bin, both of which were also constructed by Eagle Scout candidates. Lawrence has helped on other Eagle Scout projects, incuding the other pantries at the dog park, the grave markers at the old County Home and the flower containers on the court square, so he’s no stranger to the work involved in each of these projects.
The Little Free Library that was located at the entrance of the dog park was recently destroyed by an errant driver and is being rebuilt by the Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Assocation.
Imerys in Gleason donated the materials for construction of the pantry.
Lawrence is the son of Tony and Amy Lawrence of Paris.
