New Electronic Sign At Paris Civic Center Provides More Info About City Events

Paris, Tenn.–You may have noticed something new in front of the Paris Civic Center: an electronic sign that tells about all of the upcoming city events.
“We’re really excited about it,” Paris Parks and Recreation Director Tony Lawrence said. “We can put up multiple messages and tell the public about a lot more than we could before.”
The sign was paid for through American Recovery funds, which was a great help to the city. “We just didn’t have the funds in our budget for big ticket items like this and we’ve been needing this for a long time,” Lawrence said.
The sign can be used to inform the public of upcoming events at the school, the Krider Performing Arts Center, the activities planned by the city (such as the Spooktacular coming up Oct. 28 at Eiffel Tower Park).
“And Miss Rhonda (Stanton) doesn’t have to get out there in all kinds of weather to change the sign by hand,” Lawrence said. She can now do it by computer.
“And the letters don’t move around or fly away and people can’t mess with them anymore,” he added. “We’ve been working on this for a long time.”
Brown Sign Co. helped with the installation and the new sign was in operation last weekend.
