
Mrs. Shelby Vise, 84, of Union City, passed away 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at The Waters of Union City.
Shelby was born Thursday, October 13, 1938, in Union City, daughter of the Late Charlie and Bessie (Bryson) McWherter. She was also proceeded in death by her twin brother: Charles Dean McWherter; her sister: Martha Brown; and her niece: Debra Kay Brown.
She graduated from Rives High School 1956 and worked at the former Reelfoot Packing Company five years.
She married J.B. Vise Sunday, October 7, 1956. He passed away Thursday, October 23, 1997.
She also served as a “Sunshine Lady” at Stanley Chapel Church and as the Secretary of the Stanley Chapel Cemetery since 1969.
She is survived by one daughter: Gina Vise, of Nashville; three sons: Greg Vise (Melanie), of Union City, Jim Vise (Angie), of Union City, and Sam Vise (Beth), of Bethel Springs; five grandchildren: Kristen Johnson (Cannon), of Medina, Kayla Vise, of Union City, Bo Vise (Krista), of Hornbeak, Noah Vise (Avery), of Bethel Springs and Anna Nunnery (Ricky), of Hornbeak; and eight great-grandchildren: Owen Johnson, Charlee Kate Johnson, Grayson Garner, Charlotte Garner, Kinna Vise, Harper Vise, Maddie Kate Nunnery and Emerson Ruth Vise.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Sam Vise will officiate. Burial will follow at Stanley Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
