Springville, Tenn.–It’s fall ya’ll and let’s head to the refuge for a huge event that they’re calling, “Walk for the Wild, Stay for the Stars”.
The Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge in Springville has a HUGE brand new event coming up from 3-6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 14th, followed by the annual Astronomy program from 6:30-8 p.m.
The Friends of Tennessee NWR is hosting a 5K Walk for the Wild and Family Fun Day and all are invited to come out for an afternoon to focus on health and the welfare of wildlife. TWRA, TVA, Paris Landing State Park, Paris Parks Department, National Guard, Civil Air Patrol and the UT Martin Wildlife Society will all be coming with great activities.
From live wildlife to bouncy houses, goofy bikes, archery, games, water quality testing, to even TWRA’s traveling wildlife museum and more. Come on out and join them for this FREE event, get free stickers and other prizes for coming.
If that is not enough, they will culminate the evening with an Astronomy program from 6:30 – 8 pm on the back patio while roasting s’mores by the fireplace. Walk for the Wild, stay for the Stars!
Photo: The Astronomy program will begin at 6:30 pm with a fire on the back patio and s’more makings for all. The West Kentucky Amateur Astronomer’s club will be on hand again with their great telescopes to give a short program and let folks see some interesting features in the night sky. As always, our programs are free and provide a lovely evening.
