
Camden, Tenn.–The Mayors of Benton County came together Wednesday to sign proclamations declaring October as Domestic Awareness month. The occasion was the ‘Purple Up’ event at the courthouse. Niki Simko of WRAP of Benton County said, “We were honored to have in attendance, not only our local elected officials from the 24th judicial district, and our Mayors of Camden, Big Sandy, and Benton County, but Representatives from both Senator Bill Hagarty and Congressman Mark Green’s offices were in attendance as well.” WRAP is a non-profit agency that provides trauma informed supportive services to survivors of domestic violence/sexual assault and their families. Services are free and confidential and include a 24/7 helpline (800-273-8712), counseling, safety planning, safe homes, hospital and court accompaniment, advocacy, and resource linkage.
