Union City, Tenn.–Kindergarten students at Union City Elementary School made some new friends last week.
The same can be said for members of the UC Fire Department.
The two groups forged a positive relationship during the school’s annual trip to Fire Station #2, where students became familiar with firefighters and their roles in protecting and helping them in case of an emergency.
Kindergartners listened intently to explanations of equipment uses, asked questions, and even got a surprise visit from department mascot Sparky. Each class had its photo taken in front of one of the engines and left with goodie bags that included imitation fire helmets to cap the community connection visit.
