Springville, Tenn.–A wonderful evening was had by all at the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge Saturday night as guests were treated to the story of Sulphur Well, Henry County’s first tourist attraction. Sulphur Well was created by accident in 1821 when an artesian well of sulphur water was struck. For decades, people came from miles around for the healing waters at the resort, which is now under water at Kentucky Lake. Ski Witzofsky told the story of Sulphur Well during an evening which included a meal. The evening was sold out. In photo, visitors listen to the Sulphur Well story on the back porch at the refuge headquarters in Springville. (Friends of the Refuge photo).
