Dover, Tenn.–A man wanted for auto theft in Henry County was arrested in Stewart County Wednesday night after a pursuit across county lines.

Jeremel R. Kinley of Paris was arrested on the auto theft charge as well as drug charges after meth and paraphernalia was found in the vehicle during a search. He also now faces numerous charges in Stewart County, including reckless driving, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and vandalism.

According to the press release from Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray, Kinley refused to stop for Henry County deputies around 10 p.m. Wednesday night and Stewart County was notified that a pursuit was heading their way.

Deputy Patrick Weber observed a vehicle traveling at approximately 120 mph. on Hwy 79 near Hwy 232 with a Henry County Deputy in pursuit.

Deputy Weber became engaged in the pursuit and took over radio traffic, advising Stewart County deputies where the suspect was and where he was headed. Cpl. Wyatt Wilburn set up spike strips near the Dover Motel and was able to deflate the two front tires of the vehicle. The driver continued to drive, however at a much lower speed towards Dover.

Once the driver got into Dover, he attempted to turn right onto Spring St where he lost control and ran off the roadway striking a pole. The driver then fled on foot, but was apprehended by Deputy Jordan Mickle, Reserve Deputy Justus Perigo, and Cpl. Wilburn towards the back of the Farm Bureau building.

Gray said, “Deputies did a great job using the equipment provided to end this pursuit and get this dangerous person off our roads.”
