Buchanan, Tenn.–Some 500 anglers will be arriving at Paris Landing this weekend for the annual Cabela’s Collegiate Big Bass Bash at Kentucky Lake.
Tara Wilson of the Henry County Tourism Authority said, “After talking with the tournament director, they have 563 registered, which makes this the lagest one they have had.”
The public is invited to come to Paris Landing September 23 and 24 to welcome the anglers, who are coming from all over the country.
There will be multiple weigh-ins and multiple chances for the public to watch. Wilson said weigh-ins on Day One are scheduled for 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Day Two weigh-ins are 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
This is the first event of the 2023-2024season on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series.
The 2023 edition of the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley marks the third time in which this ACA major, no-entry-fee, double points event has been contested during the fall.  Fall time fishing on Kentucky Lake presents anglers with a great opportunity to throw topwater lures.  Baitfish are moving up to shallower water from their summertime haunts.  Rocky shorelines, brushy banks, and shoals near the main river channel are areas where bass will position to ambush and feed on these baitfish.
